The Post Graduate Department of Microbiology is established in the year 2022 in the beautiful campus of Govindarama Seksaria Science College, Belagavi (G.S.Sc.). G.S.Sc. is one of the leading Colleges catering the education to the Northern Karnataka Region.

Microbiology overlaps the various other degree areas of biology like as molecular biology, genetics & immunology. Students can explore career scope in the field of Microbiology owing to its relevance in Pharmacy, Medicine, clinical research, agriculture, dairy industry, environment, fermentation & nanotechnology.

The Department of Studies in Biochemistry at GSS College, Belagavi was established in 2022. The Department offer M. Sc. degree in Biochemistry and has adequate infrastructure for teaching and research. The two-year, full-time M.Sc. curriculum in Biochemistry aims to give students unparalleled instruction in the subject, with a focus on both quick growths in the area and a strong foundation in fundamental principles. Apart from academic understanding, a great deal of focus is placed on practical training that provides hands-on experience in cutting edge fields of biochemistry. Excellent training at M. About the Course

In order to cater the need of students of Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, who wanted to study Zoology for their Post-Graduation, P. G. Department of Zoology was established at G. S. S. College in the year 2020-21. The Department was established under the able leadership of Vice-Chairman of S. K. E. Society Shri S. Y. Prabhu and the then Head, Dept. of Zoology Shri A. A. Halgekar. For first two years the Department was home to the students of Rani Channamma University also. From 2024-25 onwards it started working independently under the Autonomous status.

The department is having a well-established instrumentation room, which is equipped with all basic instruments that are helpful to understand the various concepts of the subject.

The department is having one of the largest museums in North Karnataka, displaying about 700 specimens.

The classrooms as well as laboratories are provided with smart-boards.

The Department is having well qualified and experienced faculty members who will be always striving to provide the best possible knowledge to students.

Under the Autonomous status, the curriculum of the Department is designed keeping in view the syllabus of various competitive exams.
