"Navarang 2024" – A Spectacular Navaratri Celebration at SKE Society
The SKE Society proudly hosted “Navarang 2024”, a three-day Garba and Dandiya Raas event in celebration of Navaratri. Held on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of October 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM, this cultural extravaganza brought together students, faculty, and non-teaching staff for three magical evenings filled with music, dance, creativity, and joy. The event was graciously inaugurated by the South Konkan Education Society Management Members, marking the beginning of an unforgettable celebration.
Day 1 – Garba Night: A Burst of Tradition and Energy
The first evening was dedicated entirely to Garba, a traditional dance form symbolizing the spirit of Navaratri. The campus was abuzz with excitement as participants, dressed in vibrant ethnic attire, took to the floor in synchronized moves. The rhythmic beats of the dhol and folk music created a festive atmosphere that energized everyone in attendance. Students and staff alike joined hands to perform the circular dance, symbolizing unity, harmony, and devotion. The participation of teaching and non-teaching staff added to the inclusiveness and the communal joy of the event.
Day 2: Dandiya Competition (October 4th, 2024)
On October 4th, the evening comes alive with the Dandiya Competition, starting at 6:00 PM. Students will pair up to perform the dynamic and synchronized dandiya dance to lively beats. This competition promises excitement, with awards for the best dancers of the night.
The second day brought the lively and energetic Dandiya Raas to the forefront. Attendees wielded their colorful dandiya sticks, dancing in pairs to the fast-paced beats of traditional music. The atmosphere was electric, with joyful laughter and the sound of sticks clicking in unison filling the air. The evening showcased the enthusiasm and cultural spirit of the students and staff as they danced in colorful patterns, keeping alive the traditions that Navaratri represents. The highlight of the night was the competitive spirit and the lively camaraderie between different student groups and departments, as everyone displayed their skill and synchronization
Day 3: Raas Dandiya Celebration (October 5th, 2024)
The grand finale on October 5th will feature Raas Dandiya, a non-competitive celebration of dance and joy. From 6:00 PM, all participants are invited to dance to the rhythm of tradition, soaking in the festive spirit without the pressure of judgment. It will be a night to celebrate the cultural essence of Navaratri in its purest form.
The final evening was a beautiful combination of both Garba and Dandiya, bringing together the best of both worlds. This fusion added an extra layer of excitement as participants shifted between the circular Garba and the vibrant paired Dandiya dance forms. The entire campus came alive with festive lights, traditional music, and the energetic performances of students and staff. The grand finale witnessed an even larger turnout, as everyone wanted to be part of the closing night’s celebrations.
Reel-Making Competition: Capturing the Festivities
In keeping with modern trends, Navrang 2024 introduced a Reel-Making Competition, encouraging students to showcase their creativity by capturing the energy and excitement of the event on camera. Participants were invited to create short video reels highlighting the best moments of the Garba and Dandiya performances, the colorful traditional attire, and the festive ambiance. The reels were judged based on creativity, editing skills, and the ability to capture the essence of Navratri.
This competition saw an enthusiastic response, with students using their smartphones to craft visually stunning and fun reels that were later shared on social media platforms, spreading the festive spirit beyond the campus. The best reels were recognized and awarded prizes, adding a modern touch to the traditional event.
