A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a defined community to know the society at a large and to enrich their lives so that they become better human beings. Our College Library is situated in an ideal building which is adequately equipped with specially designed furniture which caters to the needs of students and staff of GSS College from PUC to PG level. A big spacious study hall of 1216.269 sq. meters, which can accommodate 300 plus students. Students of our college can enjoy a huge collection of more than 1,12,000 variety of books (i.e. old miscellanies, reference books & rare books) from pure science to literature, astronomy to psychology etc. Books are classified subject – wise on Dewey Decimal Classification System. Dozens of reputed magazines and journals really encourage students to come to this temple of learning. As the Library is Computerized, students can search books through computer. To assume quick issue-return system all the books and our users’ information is bar-coded.
Library is open from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm on regular working days. Students can enjoy free Internet facility, Reference Service which consists of Journals, Periodicals, Encyclopedia, Directories and Gazetteers etc. Book loan facility is available for deserving and poor students on payment of nominal fees under Text Book Library Scheme. One extra reader’s card is made available for students to issue competitive examination books. From last few years our library is extended facility to alumni’s of our college & outsiders too.
This year library celebrated Shiv Jayanti on 19 February 2024, Students performed skit, powada & speech on this occasion, Handwriting competition in all languages i.e. English, Hindi, Marathi & Kannda was conducted on 21st April 2025. Students performed Celebrated Librarians Day on 12 August 2024 by garlanding portrait of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan – Father of Indian Library Science. We have commemorated one of our founder member Late. Shri. Baburao Thakur sir’s 125th birth anniversary on 26 December 2024.During current academic year the following distinguished guests visited the Library and appreciated our institutional facilities: Shri.
